San
Francisco landscape architect Jay Thayer created
this shady garden on San Francisco's Nob Hill. Small but
elegantly detailed, the back-door entryway to the property
opens to the hand-set antique brick walkway. It forms
a little patio in a gentle arc that is echoed in the back
of the wooden bench. The groundcover is Japanese grass
(Opiopogum) which provides a thick emerald carpet that
never needs mowing. Pots of bright annuals punctuate this
crisp, clean garden.
The slide-show below shows additional
views of the garden.
